Sunset at Dudley Page Reserve, Dover Heights, Sydney. This location is renowned for spectacular views of the Sydney Skyline at sunset. One day I rushed home from a corporate shoot so I could take my border collie out for a walk.
As I was driving back from a well-known dog park with my beautiful border collie, Ollie, I was blown away by this brilliant glowing sunset
that was starting to take shape.
I knew I only had 5 minutes or so before it would be all over.
My cameras and tripod were still in the car from the shoot I had done.
My instinct from my newspaper days from London set in, and I just had to capture this magic moment in time.
Quickly I parked the car, grabbed my camera, tripod, and lens, as well as my border collie, and rushed to the scene.
Time was not on my side, this photo would be a one-off and I had to capture it now. Putting up my tripod delayed me, but I did not want to capture movement due to low light and also wanted to get the best quality
possible for a large canvas print.
Once I finally had attached my camera to the tripod, adjusted it, set the exposure to manual mode, and looked through the viewfinder,
I could not believe it.
